We arrived in Phoenix and met up with Elveryn and Helen, Missy's aunt and uncle. They live in a home with a fun backyard with all sorts of South Dakota farm treasures in the gardens full of beautiful flowers, which Helen must spend hours meticulously working on them to keep them in such amazing order.
This is Missy and her aunt Helen...
Elvern gave us a variety of options for dinner locations, after much conversation we decided to go to Asi La Vida. which was an amazing Mexican restaurant that didnt sell your typical tacos and burritos. I readily appreciated the Sangria.
They offered us another drink and I may have said something about enjoying tequila (which I dont know that I had ever had before and was simply being sarcastic) they provided us shots of an almond tequila on the house.... this group of Dutch rooted gals loved the almond tequila which had the taste of a liquid almond patty!
We went back to the house, had a good nights rest before we were up and off for breakfast at a local diner just up the street.
Helen's friend joined us! She had met Missy in the past and wasn't going to pass on the opportunity to see her again! Breakfast was great and I learned much about the difference in Fox and CNN news!
After breakfast we were off... After much discussion of how we were going to go about getting home. Elveryn who had driven to Iowa numerous times over the last 30 years they lived in Arizona was able to provide us with some route options... so north we headed... ready to go home!
